Akron
Summit County's largest city has a solid dispensary presence anchored by two major operators. Akron's working-class consumer base and proximity to Canton create a Northeast Ohio corridor with multiple options.
- Bloom Akron — Part of Bloom's 7-location Ohio footprint, the largest single-brand dispensary chain in the state. Consistent product selection and competitive pricing.
- The Botanist Akron — Acreage Holdings' Summit County location. Their four-store Ohio network also includes Canton, Columbus, and Wickliffe. Medical program veterans with a broad product menu.
Canton
The Pro Football Hall of Fame city, 20 miles south of Akron, has its own dispensary cluster:
- The Botanist Canton — The second Botanist location in the Akron-Canton corridor, serving Stark County.
- Zen Leaf Canton — Verano Holdings' northeast Ohio outpost, complementing their Cincinnati, Bowling Green, and Dayton stores.
- Ohio Cannabis Company Canton — An independent operator also serving Piqua in west-central Ohio. Locally owned alternative to the MSO-dominated market.
Dayton
Montgomery County's seat serves the Miami Valley region — roughly a million people in the greater Dayton area. The city's affordability and central Ohio location make it a natural dispensary hub for west-central Ohio residents who would otherwise face long drives.
- Zen Leaf Dayton — Verano Holdings' Miami Valley location. Part of their four-store Ohio network with geographic spread across the state.
- Pure Ohio Wellness Dayton — An Ohio-owned operator that grows its own flower at their London, Ohio cultivation facility. One of the few vertically integrated independents in the state. Also operates in London (Madison County).
Piqua & Surrounding Area
Ohio Cannabis Company Piqua serves the I-75 corridor between Dayton and Lima. For residents in Miami, Shelby, and Darke counties, this small-market dispensary eliminates a 45-minute drive to Dayton.
Toledo
Lucas County's Glass City sits on the Michigan border — a fact that creates unique market dynamics. Michigan's recreational cannabis is dramatically cheaper (~$80/oz vs. Ohio's $180–$210), and Toledo residents have easy access to Michigan dispensaries across the state line. Toledo's Ohio dispensaries compete not just on product quality and convenience but against the price gravity of Michigan's oversupplied market.
- RISE Toledo — Green Thumb Industries' northwest Ohio location. GTI also operates in Cleveland, Lorain, and Lakewood, giving them the broadest geographic footprint of any MSO in Ohio.
- Bloom Maumee — Located in the Toledo suburb of Maumee, part of Bloom's 7-store chain. Serves the south-side Toledo metro and I-80/90 corridor travelers.
Toledo is minutes from Michigan, where recreational cannabis runs roughly $80/oz compared to Ohio's $180–$210. However, transporting cannabis across state lines is a federal offense regardless of both states having legal programs. Purchase and consume in whichever state you are visiting.
Bowling Green
Zen Leaf Bowling Green serves Wood County and the Bowling Green State University area. Located between Toledo and Findlay on the I-75 corridor, it provides access for a region with limited dispensary options.
Other Northeast Ohio Locations
- The Botanist Wickliffe — Lake County location serving Cleveland's eastern suburbs and the I-90 corridor toward Mentor and Painesville.
- Shangri-La East Liverpool — Columbiana County location near the Pennsylvania and West Virginia borders. Serves the tri-state area where Ohio, PA, and WV meet.
- Shangri-La Zanesville — Muskingum County location on I-70, providing access for east-central Ohio between Columbus and Wheeling, WV.
- Sunnyside Wintersville — Jefferson County location near Steubenville, serving the upper Ohio Valley and West Virginia border area.
